| Log Cabin Republicans Dallas was founded in 1983, not long after the first Log Cabin chapter was established in California, the result of a proposition which would have banned gay teachers from the state's schoolrooms. At a critical moment, then-governor Ronald Reagan came out in opposition to this measure, ensuring its defeat. LCRD has a long history of grass roots political activism, working with candidates and elected officials to further our goals of a fair and inclusive Republican Party. We are at work this year to find candidates that we will endorse for the fall election. We also have a lively social side. Our members enjoy being around like-minded people where expressing conservative opinions is invited, not attacked. We have regular social events, from happy hours to our annual black tie dinner, the Grand Ol' Party. We meet on the fourth Monday of each month at Mattito's Cafe Mexicano, 3011 Routh (n.w. corner of Routh at Cedar Springs). We have a 6:30pm Happy Hour, with Dinner and Program at 7:00pm. We have a wide array of speakers, and an always lively Q&A session after the presentation. |
