Marriage Equality Defeated in California - Supreme Court to Hear Case in Early Spring 2009
Log Cabin worked hard to defeat Proposition 8, the anti-gay ballot measure that overturned marriage equality in California. We formed a campaign committee to help increase Republican opposition to this amendment—Republicans Against 8.
Log Cabin was on the front lines of the battle to protect our Constitutionally-guaranteed rights and freedoms. Republicans Against 8 developed several videos to counter the lies spread by the opponents of freedom. One is entitled Defend Freedom - Watch the video now.
The fight has just begun. Log Cabin's mission has not been completed. We will continue the fight. Share this video with your friends. Share it with your families. And most importantly, share it with your fellow Republicans - especially if they’re in California.
Spring 2008 - CALIFORNIA SUPREME COURT RULES 4-3 IN FAVOR OF MARRIAGE - The Supreme Court struck down laws that prevent the freedom to marry. Gov. Schwarzenegger said he would respect the court's ruling and reiterated his opposition to the proposed constitutional amendment. See our press release here. At the national Log Cabin Republican Convention, the Governor called a marriage amendment "a waste of time" and stated he will be there to fight it. See the moment here on video at YouTube.
