Terry Hamilton, Chairman - Mr. Hamilton has been active in Log Cabin for twenty years serving as President of Log Cabin Los Angeles during three separate terms. He has also been a member of the board of California Log Cabin and is currently the Chairman. He also serves on the national board of Log Cabin Republicans and is a member of the Executive Committee. An educator since 1972, he teaches sixth grade in the Duarte Unified School District. He met his life partner, John Ruble while touring the world as a performer with the Musical Americans in 1970. Terry and John became official domestic partners in the state of California in 2005. Mr. Hamilton earned an MA from the University of La Verne and a BA from Point Loma Nazarene University.

Matt Peterson, Vice Chairman – Matt has been involved with Log Cabin for 10 years most recently as President of Log Cabin San Diego. He is a former Vice President of Log Cabin Columbus (Ohio) and worked to launch an Indiana chapter while attending Indiana University – Bloomington where he eventually graduated. Matt served as an aide to U.S. Senator George V. Voinovich during his second term as Governor of Ohio. Matt also served as a Deputy Fundraiser during Senator Voinovich’s first campaign. In addition to his political experience, Matt has held various marketing and management positions with Banc One, Red Roof Inns, Inc., Coulter Pharmaceutical and Primary Provider Management Company, Inc. Matt is currently pulling double duty as Vice President of Behavior Research, LLC a national provider of pre- and post-employment screening solutions and as Vice President, Strategic Partnerships for California Drug Testing Associates, LLC a provider of employment screening solutions targeting the transportation industry. He also sits on the Board of Directors of National Compliance Solutions, Inc. a holding company for businesses brining innovative compliance solutions to the transportation marketplace. Matt enjoys rock climbing, water skiing, and Dog Beach. Matt moved to California in 2000 and resides in San Diego with his partner, Les Donahue, and their dog, Tu ani.
David Rappel, Secretary – Mr. Rappel is a native of Southern California growing up in San Marino. He has been on the board of Log Cabin Los Angeles for many years, most recently serving as Secretary of the chapter. He is also on the board of our sister group, Liberty Education Forum and on the Log Cabin national board. He owns his own travel agency in Studio City. He serves on the Executive Committee of the California Republican Party.

Leonard Lanzi, Treasurer - Len has 20 years of non-profit management and fund development experience. Currently he is Senior Vice President of Development for Junior Achievement of Southern California. His responsibility includes corporate fund raising in Los Angeles County and also has responsibility for JA's individual giving program. As Scout Executive/CEO for the Los Padres Council, Boy Scouts of America, Len gained extensive experience and demonstrated successes in endowment development and management, annual fundraising campaigns, direct mail solicitation and grant procurement. His comprehensive management of strategic planning and board development processes is an additional area of expertise. Currently Len is President of the Los Angeles Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans. His involvement with Log Cabin began over 17 years ago in San Diego. Len also served on Bob Pohl, Republican Assembly candidate in Santa Barbara, campaign steering committee in 2001 - 2002. Len was the Republican nominee for the California 23rd District State Senate race in 2004. As an active member of the Los Angels County Republican Central Committee, Len has served on the LA County voter integrity committee and campaigned for various Republican candidates. Len graduated from the University of Rochester with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He is an active member with the University Club of Santa Barbara and is a member of the Rotary Club of Santa Monica. Len also enjoys the sport of rugby and serves on the board of the Los Angeles Rebellion Rugby Football Club. Len and his domestic partner of 17 years, Russell Nelson, live in Topanga Canyon.
Charles Brun, Director – Mr. Brun has served on the board of Log Cabin California for two terms. He is active in the Sacramento Chapter of Log Cabin.
Alan Howard, Director - Mr. Howard has served on the national board of the Log Cabin Republicans since 2005. He is the owner of a real estate development business in Carmel and provides consulting services on systems development, implementation, and project management to the transportation industry. Mr. Howard holds a degree in Economics from Wheaton College and an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird. He is active in the Thunderbird Alumni Association, was president of the Thunderbird Netherlands Chapter, and is an avid traveler.
Jonathan Peterson, Director - Jonathan Peterson has recently moved to California and the Bay area to serve as Deputy Director of Development for the San Francisco Opera. As a national board member of Log Cabin Republicans, his involvement dates back to 1998 when he served as a member of the Chicago Log Cabin board. He has served on the national board of directors since 2002, and chaired its development committee for several years as well.
John Ruble, Director - John Ruble has been an active member of Log Cabin since 1986 and a member since 1981, holding various positions from membership, to programs and events, to Vice President of the Los Angeles Chapter. For three years, he was the Chairman of Log Cabin California. As a thirty year Realtor by trade, he has spent the last two years in project design and management for clients and friends remodeling homes. His extensive experience in the field of design and architecture has led to commercial and residential projects that range from restaurants and art galleries to private homes and condominiums. He and his domestic partner Terry Hamilton have been together for 34 years.
Leonard Olds, Immediate Past Chairman – Mr. Olds has been a leader in Log Cabin since 1984. He founded the Riverside County (Palm Springs area) Log Cabin chapter in 1991 and served as president for most of the years since. He has been a member of the Log Cabin National Board and is currently Secretary of the board of the Liberty Education Forum. He and his partner Hugh Rouse are Founders of the California Director Project. They frequently open their homes in Laguna Beach and Palm Springs for Log Cabin meetings and fundraising events.
Frank Ricchiazzi, Director Emeritus - The "Godfather" of the Log Cabin movement. From the early days of Log Cabin, Frank tried to instill in all of us the following: The "family" which is Log Cabin will survive because we are individuals who are team players and individuals with good hearts. Those two qualities will make the leadership of Log Cabin successful. First openly gay candidate in Los Angeles Country for the State Assembly (1982). First openly gay person to be chosen Chairman of an Assembly District (1983). First openly gay person to be on the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Central Committee. First openly gay person to be on the Executive Committee of the State Republican Party. A member of the State Republican Party Central Committee since 1982. An alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in Houston in 1992, and in New York in 2004. Served in the Governor Deukmejian administration: New Motor Vehicle Board Served in the Governor Wilson administration: Assistant Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The Immediate Past Chairman and Director Emeritus positions are ex officio. |
