About Log Cabin Republicans- IL

The Log Cabin Rebublicans of Illinois, as loyal Republicans, believe:

in low taxes;
in limited government;
in strong national defense;
in free markets;
in personal responsibility and;
in individual liberty

LCR is committed to the proposition that ALL Americans have the right to Liberty, Freedom, and Equality in the Land of Lincoln!

The Illinois Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans has a very unique role within the Republican Party and the GLBT community in the state of Illinois.

We share the goals and vision of Log Cabin Republicans nationwide. We believe in low taxes, limited government, strong defense, free markets, personal responsibility, and individual liberty. Log Cabin represents an important part of the American family-taxpaying, hard working people who proudly believe in this nation's greatness. We also believe all Americans have the right to liberty, freedom, and equality. Log Cabin stands up against those who preach hatred and intolerance. We stand up for the idea that all Americans deserve to be treated equal-regardless of their sexual orientation.

Our members have worked on the campaigns of candidates for the Illinois Legislature and Congress who are inclusive in the viewpoints. We attend and host fundraisers for Republican candidates who believe in a "big tent" GOP. When elected, we work closely with our representatives on issues pertaining to the GLBT community, such as workplace discrimination, HIV/AIDS and gay/lesbian families. We do precinct work and work with Republican Ward Committeemen to further the reach of the Republican party in Chicago. In the past, we have teamed up with the Cook County Republican Central Committee in outreach efforts to the GLBT community. Our members are involved in all levels of government in which we have a voice.

Our members also participate in community activities such as Northalsted Market Days. We work hard to ensure that the community knows about Republican candidates that support us on our path to equality. We participate in GLBT "crossfire" discussions, such as pre-election debates. We educate and inform the GLBT community on Republican issues. Our members have an unofficial GLBT "media watch". We provide the GLBT media with a resource to different perspectives on issues that affect our community and our nation. In addition to holding quarterly meetings, we hold purely social events too.

As a result, more and more Illinoisians are finding a home in Log Cabin and our membership has grown substantially. We welcome you to join us at one of our monthly social meetings throughout the year to become involved. Email us for more information, or visit our Meetup.com group.
