Log Cabin Republicans - Chicago Applaud Illinois General Assembly on Passage of Equal Rights Legislation
(Springfield, IL)- The Chicago Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans applauds Republican State Representative Mark Beaubien, Jr. and 11 other Republican State Representatives for voting in favor of Senate Bill 3186. Representative Beaubien also co-sponsored the measure which will now head to Governor Blagovich's desk where it is expected to be signed into law.
The final vote was 65 in favor of the bill, 50 against and 1 present. 60 votes were needed to pass the bill in the House. Republican Representatives Suzanne Bassi, Elizabeth Coulson, Joe Dunn, Carolyn Krause, Rosemary Kurtz, Patricia Lindner, Sidney Mathias, Michael McAuliffe, Rosemary Mulligan, Sandra Pihos, and Angelo Saviano joined Beaubien in casting the necessary votes to send SB-186 to the governor's desk. Thirteen Democratic Representatives voted against this measure.
The Chicago Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans would like to thank these 12 State Representatives in addition to Republican State Senators Pamela Althoff, Christine Radogno, and Dan Rutherford for their role in the passage of Senate Bill 3186.
